We live in a time of unprecedented change and potential — notably due to AI.

With this transformation comes an impressive capability to optimize without understanding — to move the world towards something, before having a hint of what it is or what used to lie in its place. Confronted with such breadth, we risk a failure to deeply comprehend anything, including ourselves.

There are strong currents that push us to move in a precarious imbalance, resulting in the acquisition of power without purpose. The speedy path leads fastest to power and attention. So, thoughtfulness presents itself at a premium. In the same stride the beacon of transformative technology suggests a world beyond belief and can reduce it to fear, to a few well-capitalized Leviathans.

It is a form of arrogance to wield power unto the world without commensurate care, without striving to see first. I want to nurture a constantly renewed effort to look at the world with a great level of attention. To try to understand — not everything, but a few things that matter. This place is where I develop this orientation, and share the focus of my attention with those that are interested.
